RPX combines our capital with client contributions to acquire problematic patents primarily in the open market on behalf of our clients. For a modest annual fee, companies that join our client network are licensed to every patent and patent right in our growing portfolio.
Our approach is highly cost-effective. Because our client pricing is separate from the actual value of the patents we acquire, our fees are significantly lower than the typical patent acquisition and defense costs a client would otherwise face. Together with our clients, we have the ability to acquire patents on a scale that operating companies cannot sustain alone, particularly as our client network continues to expand.
As a neutral and independent market participant, RPX can be trusted to buy on behalf a broad range of operating companies. Companies should not have to buy patents on their own, as they are then unfairly paying to clear patents for their competitors, as well. We provide a platform for all companies to participate in the patent clearance process at reasonable rates, while efficiently sharing resources, risks, and expenses.
Our interests are fully aligned with those of our clients – to reduce and eventually eliminate patent litigation risks and costs. We will not initiate and do not profit from patent assertions.
